Old Ways for New Days

THE GLOWWORM GANG

If you hear the tinkling of a music box followed by the high-speed rhythm of an Alphabet Rally, you’ve tuned into The Glowworm Gang. This 1940s-style children’s program is the bunker’s primary source of “Educational Entertainment”. While the adults are out dealing with the grit and the glow, the Gang provides a soft, pastel-colored sanctuary for the kids—complete with singing glowworms, a gaggle of laughing children, and their tireless mechanical guardian.

Meet the Gang—proving that even in a world of concrete, childhood should still feel like a dream.

MISS PIPPA, GLOWWORMS, BUNKER BUNCH

Miss Pippa “Pip-Pop”: The Mechanical Matriarch

The heart of the program is Miss Pippa, aka “Pip-Pop”. She earned her nickname from the children who giggle at the rhythmic “pop” of her hydraulic joints during high-energy dances. Designed with a soft teal-and-pink finish and a glowing heart-shaped chest plate, Pip-Pop is the conduit for the bunker’s “Moral Enrichment Division”.

While her movements are rigid and era-appropriate, her voice is a soothing blend of pre-war domesticity and gentle authority. She doesn’t just supervise; she leads the chaos, her internal speakers broadcasting the voices of “Aunts” and “Uncles” to provide the melodies for fast-paced sing-a-longs.

The Glowworm Gang & The Bunky-Bunch

Accompanying Pip-Pop are the Glowworm Gang—large, friendly, bioluminescent puppets. They join the kids in the “Galaxy Hop,” zooming through the stars in homemade spaceships powered by lemonade gear. They teach the children that not everything that glows in the dark is a danger, encouraging them to “brighten the corner where you are”.

The show features a rotating cast of children known as the Bunky-Bunch. Whether it’s Arlo hacking toasters or Hugo stomping like a dinosaur, Pip-Pop keeps them all in line with a whistle and a smile.

Behind the Screen

The Glowworm Gang’s broadcasts are carefully monitored by Haven Command to ensure a “stress-free” environment. The songs are catchy, fun, and frequently fast-paced—using noise-makers and upbeat tempos to drown out the heavy machinery and sirens of the wasteland.
