STRIPED NAKED LADY (Colchicum variegatum)

[RESOURCE IDENTIFIED > STRIPED NAKED LADY]

Specimen: Colchicum variegatum. Identification: Tessellated Autumn Crocus. Status: DEADLY / LEVEL-10 ASSASSIN. Hazard: Rapid Cellular Shutdown (Colchicine).

CROSS-REFERENCE PROTOCOL

⚠️ VISUAL DECEPTION: This specimen features a “checkered” or “tessellated” pattern that can be mistaken for the natural veining of True Saffron. It is a member of the Colchicum genus and possesses the same lethal chemical profile as its non-striped counterparts. Mistaking this for an exotic saffron variant is a terminal error.

FIELD IDENTIFICATION

The Striped Naked Lady follows the classic “Naked” growth habit—flowers emerge in autumn without any accompanying green foliage, which appears only in the spring. In the Besler plate, this is identified as Colchicum album strijs purpureo coeruleo variegatum.

Primary Identification Markers:

  • The Stamen Count (The Death Count): Open the flower immediately. It features six yellow stamens. Any autumn bulb with more than three stamens is an Assassin.
  • Petal Pattern: Distinctly “tessellated” or checkered with purple-blue squares/spots on a paler background.
  • The Stigmas: Short, three-parted, and pale. It lacks the long, drooping red threads essential to Saffron.
  • The Stem: A long, pale, fragile tube that emerges directly from the soil with zero leaves at the base during the bloom phase.

THE TOXICOLOGY LOG: REPLICATION ARREST

Like all Colchicums, this plant is saturated with Colchicine. This toxin binds to tubulin, preventing the formation of microtubules during cell division. Effectively, the body loses the ability to create new cells, leading to a total systemic shutdown.

  • Ingestion Hazard: Symptoms begin within 2 to 6 hours with severe burning in the digestive tract and a total inability to keep fluids down.
  • Systemic Failure: Within 24-48 hours, the patient experiences a collapse of white blood cell counts, followed by organ failure.
  • Ant antidote: NONE. Survival depends entirely on the quantity ingested and immediate gastric lavage if performed within minutes of ingestion.
⚠️

Bunker Advisory: The Checkered Trap

  • THE SIX-STAMEN RULE: Count the yellow legs. If there are 6, the plant is a Level-10 Assassin. Saffron only has 3.
  • PATTERN ANALYSIS: Do not mistake checkered petals for dark veins. Saffron veins are linear; Colchicum variegatum patterns are boxy and tessellated.
  • FLOWER GEOMETRY: True Saffron is a cup. Autumn Squill is a spike of stars. If the purple flowers are star-shaped and multiple on one stem, it is Squill.

BUNKER CLEARANCE

“Checkered petals and six yellow stalks, Death follows close where the scavenger walks. Leave the striped lady alone in her bed, or join the long list of the foolish and dead.” Archive complete. KNF7 and the Bunker Archives are not responsible for ingestion of toxic tessellated specimens.

Toxicological data compiled from modern clinical archives. THERE IS NO ANTIDOTE FOR COLCHICINE. This is an identification and avoidance record.
